Description

Large print version of the US Special Forces Antenna Handbook. Hands down one of the best references on antennas ever written and lost for a long period of time outside the SF community, I have put this back into print both in its spiral bound hip pocket format and this large print version by popular demand. This is an easy to follow and digest manual, not written for engineers but for everyone. 159 pages, fully illustrated.

Good content, not very large print

The info in the Antenna Handbook is quite good and I’ve already added plenty of practical info to my thinking. However the large print edition appears to be printed as the smaller edition with a lot of margin on the larger pages. It would be more ideal to actually expand the (scanned?) pages onto the large format.

    Direct and to the point

    So far, so good!

I have the Baofeng Guerrilla book and the USSF antenna book. I don’t think I got the large print version. I have to use reading glasses to read it without getting a headache. Guerrilla book was great, just what I was looking for. Still reading the other, but I’m sure it’s just as informative.

    Such knowledge

Filled with all the specificity you will need.

    Antenna handbook

Went further to help me with using and building antennas. The large print was a lot easier to use than the field manual at home. I highlighted passages that I needed in both books.

    Liight Pages

Overall, I like the book. The part I’m not crazy about is that on quite a few pages, the printing is very light. I can still read the info and understand the diagrams, but sometimes it takes extra effort. This “light pages” syndrome showed up in a buddy’s copy as well.

Great reference for field expedient antenna construction and use

This is a great reference for learning the basics of antenna functions, design, and use of field expedient antennae. Keep a copy in you Comms kit. Use guide this to help teach others.

US Special Forces Antenna Handbook Large Print

The big print is MOST helpful! Again, a lot for an old man to digest, but anything to keep the mind working at my age is always helpful. Also, extra info for my MAG. Keep up the good work. Ol’ Man Bob

    Solid

I have a PDF of this manual (the original gov’t doc) but wanted the thing in book form. Book is nicely done. Only reason for 4 stars is the print is a bit on the light side. It is a direct repro of the original manual so no apparent touch up was done. Readable and usable, happy with it overall and a great reference for understanding antennas of the improvised, field, and homebrew types much better. Already on the air with a few of them. I appreciate Brushbeater for making this info readily accessible. Get one, educate yourself, and go practice.

    Field guides and AR152 pouch.

The field guides are a great way to have valuable information in a compact format. The radio pouch is well made, has nice design features , and even a hidden reminder that brushbeater is always with you.

Well, for me if you are going to buy all the gear use it! It’s no good sitting about with dead batteries. Learn every aspect of your equipment. This handbook is another great wealth of info on how to use your gear, in whatever environment with bailing wire and plastic spoons. Another great resource from NC, highly recommend if you are looking to use this stuff.

    Great content, poor print

Excellent information, but there’s a lot of pages in my copy that have extremely faint text/sketches. Not unreadable, but aggravating for sure.
