The Jambiya - the blade synonymous with middle eastern lore. Equal parts practical tool and weapon, the Jambiya is as much a symbol of a warrior as it is a practical piece of kit. TE Lawrence would never be without his since his time raising an Arab army of guerrillas to fight the Ottoman Empire. It is in his honor we name the most versatile optic in the Khyber Optics line - a compact 3x30 scope, suitable for any weapons platform, combined with a non-electronic rangefinder built into the reticle.
Without a doubt the optics world is dominated by the AR-15 platform and as a result, most of the designs are tailor made for them. This includes compact, lightweight optics. In operational environments in other corners of the world the need to outfit other platforms becomes paramount - the AK, the G3, the FAL, and so on. The Jambiya is the result of recognizing that need. The mounting solution is completely up to the shooter - tailor it to your needs.
The Jambiya features 3x magnification with a 30mm objective lens, a 34mm single piece tube, Japanese glass, 1/4 MOA adjustments with locking turrets, and a 10 setting illuminated reticle. It has an incredibly generous eye relief surpassing any of the prismatic optics in its class.
Light and compact yet rugged, the Jambiya certainly lives up to its namesake.
Using the Reticle
Zero at maximum magnification, any distance, however I suggest 36yd (25m) for a standard 300m battle sight zero (same point of impact) for 5.56 or 308. The hash mark spacing is 5 MOA. Your bullet drop will correspond to the inches of drop of your specific round which can be measured in MOAs. To use the rangefinder: the range finder is based on the average height of a man (70 inches). Place the feet of the target on the horizontal line and whichever line the head meets is the approximate distance to your target. Very simple to use, no electronics.
