Combining the revolutionary features of the Q900 all band, all mode SDR radio with the TBR-119 mil-spec radio, the PMR-171 represents the feature-rich capabilities of both while adding a built-in battery and top-panel controls and antenna ports for backpack use. While this is *not* a rugged radio in the same way the TBR-119 is, the PMR-171 maintains the same functionality at less than half the cost. It represents a leap forward in terms of portable radio operation that's perfect for field day, SOTA, POTA, or any other outdoor activities.

    Good radio

So far this radio meets my expectations. I am a General class operator and I specialize in QRP field portable radio and EOC operations. My go to radio is an Icom IC 705 so my expectations were high but so far so good. The packaging on the PMR 171 is excellent. The workmanship and quality of the radio is very good. I was on the air in a few hours with FT8cn. Be sure to order a VHF whip antenna with a TNC connector as it doesn't come with one. I don't recommend adapters for low power radio's but it will work with one. My goal in ordering this radio was to come up with an all band all mode field radio that does well on digital modes, with a total buy in of under $1000 ($725 radio, $60 Walmart Android tablet and $150 in antenna's) and so far it meets those expectations. The SDR screen is small but easy to read even for these 60+ eyes. If you are considering one I say pull the trigger. There is a lot of bang for the buck in this radio.

    PMR 171

Recently picked up the PMR after the cell phones went out. It is all I could want and more. The learning curve is a little steeper, but Scout is helping me through that. Talk about excellent customer service. It doesn’t get better than this. Can’t be happier.

Do not like the radio, Brushbeater would not refund my money.

Steve, simply sending me an email saying 'I don't like this' ain't doing anything for anyone. You can't figure out how to use it and that's a YOU PROBLEM. Not only that you were asked, point blank, what issues were present and given a point of contact for service. You didn't respond. So honestly I could care less what you think.

Your poor attitude is no way to treat a small business and I'll be upfront in saying not only do I not appreciate it but also that I hope the door doesn't hit you in the ass.
