The Spike Hawk is a throwback to the original Ranger fighting axe described by Maj. Robert Rogers in his journal from the French and Indian War. A design as timeless as his Rules of Ranging, Kyle Tepfer has made some updates to bring the design to the modern era. A full tang design made of 80crV2, the Spike Hawk is a nearly indestructible belt axe perfect for any kit, from a fighting load to rescue applications. Made here in NC by Kyle Tepfer of Tepfer Armory.

    Spike Hawk

OK, this thing is seriously nice! Hi, my name is Dave and I have an addiction - I like really nice knives and now - I have added really nice 'hawks to this problem. Or at least my wife of 50 years says so! But, kidding aside, I run a Survival / Bush Crafting business and 'Hawks and Axes are a big part of it. We have a bunch of SOG's, Gerber's, Eastwing's, etc, but this TepFer Spike Hawk leaves them all in the dust! Built upon the description by Maj Rogers this example would fit right in except for the rubber scale option I went with as we have a lot of winter classes. I find nothing not to like about this belt axe. It is balanced, sharp, the right length, weight and appearance. For chopping, detail work, or fighting, (or just looks right fine on your belt), This is the 'Hawk you want. There are plenty of examples available out there by different makers, but this one is verified solid. Nice even grinds, tapers and fit! You will have to work at it to find a better 'Hawk.
