I haven’t gotten it out in the field yet, but this looks and feels solidly built. The only complaint so far was that a little force had to be used to get an SMA to BNC adapter to fit through the provided hole.

The fit of this unit was perfect. I love the included red screen, and that the protective screens are interchangeable. The best part is that even with the new case on, the Ultra still fits inside the small hard-shell camera case that I’ve been using. Now the Ultra is protected both in and out of the camera case!! Five stars +

It is a well designed 3-D printed case. I like the ability to change from a clear plastic screen to a red screen for low light use, while retaining the ability to slide it up to see the raw feed.

Vigilante case
I’m very impressed with the quality of the case. The case is 3D printed for all the pieces with the exception of the clear screen covers. The screws for the front face of the case actually screw into metal threaded inserts on the other part of the case. That’s the first time I’ve seen threaded inserts used on a 3D printed case and it is a good idea for the longevity of the case. It comes with 2 screen protectors a clear and a clear red one. The clear screen protectors can be slide up to access the touchscreen and won’t fall off and get lost until you decide to change them. There is a spot for a stylus pen, but the one I have doesn’t fit tightly in there so I’ll probably have to put some heatshink on it or find another stylus that works. The case is worth every penny in my opinion. If you have a tinysa ultra you definitely won’t regret getting this case.

Good Case for a Handy Tool
The TinySA Ultra is a logical option for someone looking for a standalone spectrum observation tool.
What the TinySA is not is a durable, ruggedized offering from the likes of Panasonic or GETAC or L3Harris. Its a humbly packed tool and any owner would be rightfully nervous handling it.
Enter VE with their 3D printed case. It fits snuggly, provides adequate access to all I/O, and even includes a handy shield system (with clear and red lens). It even has a place for the touch screen pen. If I were to knock it for anything, it would be that retention well for the pen; there is no real friction fit or ‘click’ that really retains it in that storage well, as you’d have on a Toughbook, ruggedized tablet, or rugged case for a tablet. So that pen will go flying if you whirl around with the case. I suppose there are a dozen solutions to this and I’ll pick one at some point. I consider it a minor point and so only hit it for a single star.
