Protection without the bulk.
I like the protection and the coverage the unit gives. Some covers are just too bulky. These don’t interfere with my pouches at all. They still give access to your PTT button, which I prefer.
Brushbeater always gets me what I want/need.

Knob protector
I like the product. 2 suggestions:
1) Include 2 screws 1 length longer than those removed from the radio. It’s harder to find the correct screw sizes/threads at hardware stores (like Ace).
2) Drill a hole in the knob protector to accommodate the LED light at the top of the radio.

It works well but I had to get different screws to secure it since the actual uv-5r screws were too short. Although, I don’t use the light on the radio, I did not like the idea that it is covered with the protector. However, overall fit was good.

Great idea
These are a great idea and a useful acessory to the Baofengs. Fit and finish is excellent; I did put some liquid electrical tape in light cap portion just to be triple sure that there is no accidental discharge of that pesky little light! The only negative is that I wish that it came with new, longer screws as the factory ones barely catch (.. maybe 2 full threads?); I couldn’t get the threads to engage with the belt clip installed.
My next purchase from Brushbeater will include the knob protectors for my UV-5RM(s). BTW… the UV-5RM is superior in every way to the original UV-5R series EXCEPT light signature from the display.

For those situations where you want to avoid being “that guy”, you need this. Might save a life as well, never know. Cheap insurance. Simple tool that gets the job done. I’m happy with my purchase.

A handy tool for preventing accidental volume adjustments plus preventing the flashlight from blinding you by accident in the dark.
If you are like me, you may have a small fleet of these radios and find they come with a variety of screw lengths, from barely adequate to entirely unhelpful. More over, if you have replaced a belt clip over the years and used the new screws, you almost DEFINITELY do not have adequate length.
The size you are looking for is M.25-0.45x8mm. Do yourself a favor and opt for the hex head while you are at it.
